Prepping my gear for Alanna & Shae’s wedding felt surreal. Like, I was about to capture the wedding day of two amazing people, who I KNOW are madly in love… because I was witness to them falling for each other. Wow.
I remember meeting Alanna in the height of a summer in Deep Cove. Shae was roommates with my man, and they bought a boat together to take crab fishing.
Alanna and Shae had grown apart since going to Mulgrave School together, and they even dated for like, minutes back then. Shae invited Alanna to come out on the boat that day, years later. Maybe he knew it would lead to something, maybe not. But I remember looking over at Shae who was cracking a joke which brought out Alanna’s million dollar smile… and the rest was history.
So it came as no surprise when I saw their engagement post years later. After a day spent skiing powder at Whistler Blackcomb, Shae was ready to make sure his middle school love didn’t get away. Then they asked me to be their wedding photographer and I immediately said YES!
Their wedding at Camp Fircom on Gambier Island was incredible. There was rain as is custom with many west coast weddings, but the energy of the guests and the amazing staff at the camp made the weekend picture perfect. Beautiful place, people and couple. Here’s some of Alanna and Shae’s special day.
